Lenten Season 2015

Lenten Newsletter

Lenten Newsletter

Dear Friends,

As I write this I am still finding it hard to believe that in a few weeks the beautiful season of Lent will begin.  A time where our God invites us to enter into a period of reflection; about our relationship with God, about all that Christ has done for us; about Passion and Resurrection.

I have asked our liturgy committees and all those who decorate to not necessarily go with the same design from years past but to do things that when we walk into our churches one can’t miss the fact that we are in the season of Lent.

You will also note that a number of programs are being offered during this Liturgical time in our faith; 33 Day’s to Morning Glory at St. Mary’s in Scottsville, 5 Saints West will be having a retreat from March 8th to the 10th, plus Stations of the Cross, a Wednesday evening mass just to name a few.  Be sure to look at the accompanying sheet with all the things that will be offered to our parishioners at our church facilities.

All leading up to that week we refer to as Holy.  Where we re-live the Passion of Christ and end with the rejoicing of Easter and the choruses of Alleluia’s are re-released in our praises of God.

Be assured of my prayers for all of you and know that I will be asking that this Lent be a time of Spiritual renewal for all of us.

May the blessings of our Risen Lord be yours,

Fr. John Hayes, Pastor

 Lenten Service Project

Our Lenten Service to Others Continues . . .

The First Week of Lent, we began our Lenten Service and Almsgiving Project.  As a cluster, we are collecting items for the students at the Roberto Clemente School, (#8 in Rochester).  Bins can be found in each parish vestibule.  Christine Sickles, the principal of School 8, thanks us for everything that we, as a cluster, can do to help the children.
Last week we had asked for donations of new and gently used: coats, mittens, hats, and most importantly (new) socks.  She would like to add  pants (for both boys and girls), and she says that the greatest need is for the kids in Kindergarten through 4th Grade. Thanks to all that have volunteered to help with this very worthwhile project, but we still need more help to get all of our donations from our bins to their school.

Please consider making this a “family project” as you volunteer. Let us all “embrace an atmosphere of belonging and discipleship to make visible the life and work of Jesus.”

Help our cluster reach out to those less fortunate than us. For more information, please see our bulletin.
