Lent & Holy Week 2019

Dear Friends,

The beauty of this very sacred season of Lent is the opportunities that are offered to both reflect on and renew your relationship with God.

In this newsletter, you will find several opportunities to experience times of prayer and reflection.  There will be daily Mass opportunities, as well as an evening Mass, all during Lent on Wednesdays.  (Please note that at least one of those Wednesdays there will be a reconciliation service offered at St. Marianne Cope’s Guardian Angels Church instead of evening Mass.)  You will also see Stations of the Cross being offered on most days of the week.

A Lenten Retreat on various aspects of the Passion is being offered and will be hosted at three different churches.  Be sure to check our calendar of events for that information. And of course, there will be several opportunities to experience the Sacrament of Reconciliation. March 13th will be the Lenten Day of Penance and Mercy, where we can each experience the healing power of Confession and celebrate God’s forgiveness. Again, check the newsletter for the schedule.

It is my sincerest hope that you will partake in some, if not all, of the liturgies being offered during Holy Week.  These are the rich traditions that lead us to the joyful celebration of the Risen Lord.

Be assured of my prayers for all of you and know that it will be my hope that this Lent will be a time of spiritual renewal for all of us.

May the blessings of our Risen Lord be yours,

Fr. John Hayes,

Faith Formation Activity

Sunday, April 14th, Faith Formation will be hosting a Palm Sunday activity option for young children of the parish. During Mass children will be invited to stay and participate in a viewing of Worthy is the Lamb and do a Palm Sunday activity. This will help the children learn and prepare for Holy Week at their level.

This year we will be hosting this event at:

St. Columba 5:00pm and 9:00am Masses in The Hall

St. Mary 8:00am and 11:00am Masses in Hartmann Hall

St. Vincent 5:00pm and 10:00am Masses in The Hall

Watch the bulletin for more information.

Prayer of Lenten Reflection

Slow my pace, Loving God.

As Lent draws close,

guide me towards a spiritual practice that

restores my equilibrium.

Guide my steps, Lord Jesus.

Take my hand,

and lead me along a Lenten path that renews my faith in you.

Mark my way, Holy Spirit.

Bring me to a resting place of grace,

where I find the peace of Easter's promise and the fire of Pentecost's love.
