Coronavirus Precautions

Dear Parishioners,

Certain precautions are being taking due to COVID-19 (Coronavirus) pandemic.

Mass will still be said this weekend; however, per Fr. John Hayes, “I am not recommending they attend.”

Catholics who are exhibiting any symptoms from any illness are asked to stay at home for their own protection.

Any Catholic who is in the “at-risk category,” especially the elderly and most vulnerable, are not obligated to attend Mass.

The cup will not be offered at Communion, and the host may only be received in the hand.

Holy water fonts will be empty.

The Sign of Peace will be done verbally and there will be no hand holding during the Our Father.

There will be no music or preaching during this weekend’s Mass.

All Bible studies, Children’s Liturgy, Pre-School, Lenten book studies and all Faith Formation classes at Caledonia and Churchville have been postponed indefinitely.

Also, all weekday Masses have been cancelled until further notice.

Liturgical ministers need not attend Mass, apart from lectors and ushers.

For those that will be attending Mass, we, at St. Martin de Porres Parish, are taking precautions and all sanitary practices are being followed. We will have hand sanitizer at Mass and are urging parishioners to follow essential hand washing practices.

If there are any changes to this situation, we will notify you.

Thank you for your understanding during this time.
