Lifelong Faith Formation

In line with our Parish Mission Statement, we offer a variety of options to encourage "lifelong faith formation for spiritual growth."  We are working as a team, comprised of staff and volunteers to help form disciples.

Children's Faith Formation Options

Catholic children not attending a Catholic school are required to participate in a parish faith formation program during grades K - 8 in order to support parents' efforts to nurture faith and Christian morals and values as promised when children are baptized. In our parish, we work hard to provide Catholic families tools and opportunities to strengthen both faith and family life within our community.

See Diocesan Homelinks Program, Strong Catholic Families, Children's Page.

  • St Columba offers Monday evening school year classes for Grades K-8.
  • St Mary of the Assumption utilizes a summer program for grades K-8 with monthly sessions throughout the school year.  We also have Children's Liturgy of the Word at the 11 am Mass weekly.
  • St Vincent offers weekly school year classes for Grades 1-7 on Tuesdays. Preschool is availble durein
  • All sites offer a Family Based/Home Study option that includes monthly session at the parish.

Teen Faith Formation

Teens are encouraged to participate in our Youth Ministry which includes a variety of activities to help form them as mature disciples in the faith.  Programs are designed mindful of the particular needs and gifts of adolesccents and cover the many components of formation:

  • Advocacy
  • Catechesis
  • Community Life
  • Evangelization
  • Justice and Service
  • Leadership Development
  • Pastoral Care
  • Prayer and Worship

There are local, diocesan and national opportunities and some activities are targeted for Senior High and others are open to Middle School.

Sacramental Preparation

To prepare to celebrate the sacraments of Reconciliation, First Communion, and Confirmation contact the Faith Formation staff.  Preparation sessions are in addition to participation in parish Faith Formation programs and/or enrollment in a Diocesan Catholic school.

For teens or adults receiving these sacraments for the first time see info about RCIA and contact Fr. John Hayes.

For Baptismal preparation contact Deacon Matt Dudek.

For Marriage preparation contact Fr John Hayes.

Click here for Diocesan Guidelines for Sacramental Preparation.
